ANSON COUNTY — The Anson County Health Department welcomed families from across the county to its 2026 Christmas in July Community Health Event, bringing together preventive healthcare, school readiness resources, and community support in a festive, family-friendly atmosphere.
The event was held on July 16, 2026, from 1:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. It was created to increase access to sports physical, promote childhood immunizations, support students as they prepare to return to school, and connect families with valuable community resources.
Throughout the afternoon, families visited the Health Department to receive preventive healthcare services, prepare for the upcoming school year, and connect with local organizations offering valuable resources. Children enjoyed meeting Santa Claus and the Grinch, taking photos, and participating in a fun and welcoming environment, while parents learned about programs and services available throughout Anson County.
Families also received backpacks filled with school supplies, hygiene kits, baby items, refreshments, bottled water, gently used clothing, and other donated resources made possible through the generosity of local sponsors and community partners.
The event was made possible through the generosity of community partners and sponsors, including Blue Cross and Blue Shield of North Carolina, Monroe Biomedical Research, Bernice Bennett, Winnie Bennett, Marlene and Frank Richardson, Anson County Partnership for Children (Smart Start), Anson County Schools, Food Lion, UnitedHealthcare, Healthy Blue, Safe Kids, Hope Pregnancy Center, Support Incorporated, Anson Community Action, Flavors Water Ice, and Tau Nu Zeta Chapter of the Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Inc. located in Monroe, NC.
The success of the event highlights the power of community partnerships and a shared commitment to ensuring that Anson County’s children are healthy, prepared for school, and connected to the resources they need to thrive.
The event was coordinated by Claretta Little, RN, BSN, ACHD Immunization Nurse and Noelia Chumpitaz, ACHD Health Educator. This collaborative effort reflects the Anson County Health Department’s commitment to improving the health and well-being of the children and families of Anson County.
