WADESBORO — James Luther Dutton, 69, died Dec. 3, 2012 at his home.

Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at Mt. Beulah Baptist Church with Rev. Steve Forsythe officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.

The family will greet friends on Wednesday from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m. at Leavitt Funeral Home and other times at the home.

Dutton was born July 23, 1943 in Anson County, a son of the late Luke Newsome and Mary Aileen Baker Dutton.

He was a graduate of Montgomery High School, and graduated from Anson Technical College with an associate’s degree in business administration. He had worked with Hornwood and later retired from Lance as a route salesman.

He was a longtime member of Mt. Beulah Baptist Church, a veteran of the United States Air Force and a member of the Sons of the Confederacy, having served several terms as chaplain.

Surviving are his wife of 46 years, Frances Martin Dutton of the home; his son and daughter-in-law, Kenneth and Christie West Dutton and his daughter, Kim Dutton Goodson of Wadesboro; his grandchildren, Lucas and Drake Dutton and Hannah and D.J. Goodson; his brother and sister-in-law, Bobby and Joyce Ann Dutton of Unionville; his brother-in-law, Darrell Martin of Wadesboro; his sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Shirley and Harold Williams of Hudson; his aunt and uncle, Annie Bowman and Maynard Dutton both of Lilesville and his cousins and their families.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Mt. Beulah Baptist Church, 3373 Country Club Road, Wadesboro, NC 28170.
