POLKTON — Joe Fred Kirk, 84, died Nov. 16, 2012 at Ambassador Health and Rehab in Wadesboro.
Services were held Sunday by the graveside in Williams Cemetery with Rev. George Senter officiating.
The family greeted friends following the service at the Polkton Depot and other times at the home.
Kirk was born Dec. 4, 1927 in Anson County, a son of the late Fred Jones Kirk and the late Nora Mae High Kirk. He was retired from Duff Norton, a member of Polkton Baptist Church and a veteran of the United States Merchant Marines, having served during World War II.
Surviving are his wife Lorena Napier Kirk of the home; his children, Freddie Kirk of Monroe and Delores Rivers of Polkton; his sister, Mary Frances Kiker of Polkton; six grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.
