LILESVILLE — James “Jim” Harris Kendall, 80, died on Sept. 26, 2012 at his home.

Funeral services were held Sunday at Parsons Grove Missionary Baptist Church with Rev. Dr. Jerry Tyson officiating. Interment followed in the church cemetery.

He was born March 27, 1932 in Wadesboro, a son of the late Robert and Carrie Kendall. He attended Anson County Public Schools and was drafted into the United States Army and served his country during the Korean War, receiving an honorable discharge. He retired from Wansona in Wadesboro after 27 years of service.

Kendall was a faithful member of Flat Rock Missionary Baptist Church in Wadesboro until declining health. Surviving are his wife, Netter Tyson Kendall of the home; his children, Melvin Tyson, Carolyn Tyson Irving and James Tyson; and a special daughter-in-law, Rena Tyson; eight grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren.

Also surviving are his sisters, Carrie Kendall and Julia Kendall; his brothers, Robert Kendall, Joe Kendall, Timothy (Willie) Kendall, and Harvey “Sonny” Kendall; his sisters-in-law, Pauline Tyson, Elizabeth Merritt, Minnie (Robert) Montgomery, Georgianna Allen and Mary Ricks; and a host of nieces, nephews and friends.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his brother and sister, Louis Kendall and Alice Everette.
