Students in Deborah Gathings’ third grade class at Lilesville Elementary School recently gave PowerPoint presentations on a nonfiction topic to their classmates, as well as their principal, Maresa Dutton Phillips. Each student presenting PowerPoint presentations researched a topic by selecting information from several appropriate web sources. The students chose their PowerPoint design, typed information into their own slides, chose transitions, inserted pictures for visual aids, and were excited to present information in a digital format to their peers.
The standards addressed in this type of research are addressed in writing as well as speaking and listening skills.
