After nearly a year’s worth of preparation and redesign, the Anson County government's new website is now live. The site went up at 6 p.m. on Feb. 25.

County Manager Lawrence Gatewood, IT manager Randy Gulledge and senior accounting officer Cathy Baxter led the effort to recreate the site, making it more updated and more user-friendly.

Gatewood said that the objectives of redesigning the site were that the new site be attractive, informative, current and easy to navigate. The home page and interior pages of the site feature Anson County images that will change with the seasons, Gulledge said.

There will be drop-down boxes for each department, and tabs like “For Residents,” “Businesses in Anson” and “County Services.” Eventually, the site will be equipped to take online credit card payments for county taxes and water bills, Gulledge said.

The county’s site will provide links for the Anson County Chamber of Commerce, South Piedmont Community College, Anson County Schools and emergency services notifications. There will be a calendar of events, a news section and links to the county’s Facebook, Twitter and Google + pages.

The GIS section has also been updated, Gulledge said, and will have a section for readers to offer feedback on how to improve that section of the site.

“Under the ‘Current Events’ tab, we’re hoping to have a feed to the emergency services center as it’s going up,” Baxter said.

“We will have cameras at the construction site for a live feed,” Gulledge added.

The county’s website is www.co.anson.nc.us.
