Venta “Wiki” Smith, wife of Edwin S. Smith, of Chesapeake, V.A., passed away on Wednesday, Nov. 7, 2012 in her home. Smith was the daughter of Glennie and Vern Simpson, and formerly of the Fairfield community. In addition to her parents, she is predeceased by her infant son, Little Stewart; her adult son, Alan; her adult grandson, Danny; her sister, Peggy Purser; nephew, Patrick Simpson; and a host of other family and dear friends.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Sunday, Nov. 11 in the Chapel of Morgan & Son Funeral Home. Interment will follow at Fairfield Baptist Church Cemetary; visitation will be from 5-7 p.m. Saturday at Morgan & Son.

Smith is survived by Ed, her husband of 66 years; daughter, Glenda, and husband Douglas Tyler, and their children, M’Lynn and Joey, of Chesapeake; son, Phillip, and wife Tammy Smith, of Long Beach, N.C., and his daughter, Adria and her husband, Nelson Tetreault, of Waxhaw; daughter, Edwina, and her husband Ricky Carnes of Winnabow, N.C.; son Alan’s widow, Kathy Smith Aldridge (Mike) of Monroe, and their daughter, Shelley, and her husband, Jeff Bartlett, and their children; Mallory and Brady Alan, of Roanoke, and their son, Stuart and his wife Andrea Smith, of Charlotte. Brother John Simpson and family of Watson Church Community and brother Davis Simpson also survive.
