On Sunday, Aug. 1, the Fayetteville Observer named Anthony its top recruit in the state. He was also named one of the Top 22 in the state by Charlotte's WSOC-TV.
So far, Anthony has received interest from football powerhouses Auburn, Florida State, Miami, Nebraska, Oklahoma, UCLA and USC. He has narrowed that list to Florida, Clemson, Georgia, N.C. State, North Carolina and Virginia Tech.
He has not yet decided on a college but has received more than 25 offers for full scholarships.
Anson High head football coach Luke Hyatt said the team will depend on Anthony a lot this year. "We're gonna lean on him hard," he said during the first day of practice on Monday, Aug. 2.
AHS athletic director Fred Davis said he's proud of the interest Anthony has generated. "It just goes to show that if you work hard, good things can happen," Davis said. "And Anson High is a good school that produces good people."
