Each year the volunteers of Faith-Based Center of Hope host an annual “Back to School with Pride” project. The project begins with a cookout at Hatchers Park in Lilesville. The Lilesville Community Center located directly across the street from the park will be used to pass out school supplies and uniforms.

This year the event will take place Aug. 20 at 5 p.m. There will also be an event at Centenary A.M.E. Zion Church Aug. 21 at 6 p.m.

The project provides supplies and uniforms to over 300 kids and four schools in the Anson, Richmond and Union County area.

The Back to School with Pride is open to the less fortunate youth of all diversities.

There will be entertainment provided by HOLLA! and M&L Fun-Fun located in Morven.

Youth that would like to come and assist in passing out supplies should contact Vancine Sturdivant at 704-848-4412 or Ester Lindsey at 704-848-8452, the Rev. Judy Little at 704-848-8809 or Claude Spencer at 704-848-4119.
