At approximately 3 a.m., officers responded to 1212 Summit St. in reference to a fight in progress, according to a statement from the Wadesboro Police Department.
Officers found several subjects in the yard and located a man lying on the floor of the apartment. Charles Matthews, 31, was bleeding from the abdomen and having difficulty breathing.
He was taken to Anson Community Hospital and then flown by helicopter to Carolinas Medical Center.
A police investigation revealed he was stabbed during an altercation with two other subjects. The police say they know their identities and arrests will be made pending further investigation.
Matthews is still in the hospital recovering from surgery.
