The board of directors discussed what could be done to increase turnout at the July 4 Summer Jam concert next year.
President Carly Little said attendance was down this year compared to last year. She said one marketing effort that may have made a difference last year was passing out flyers.
The group will consider posting a sign in the future.
The organization also discussed the final Summer Jam concert this year, Aug. 6. The band Smoke Break will perform from 7-10 p.m. on Wade Street. Members decided to put off a decision on what kind of food should be available.
"Our Civitan [Club] has the best hot dogs," Brook Crider said.
The organization will work further with the National Main Street Center. A representative of the group, Theresa Watts, made a presentation to Uptown Wadesboro last month.
The organization attempts to preserve and revitalize these parts of small towns. It offers program guidance, technical assistance, training, networking opportunities and advocacy.
Little said she wanted to make a one- to three-year vision for uptown.
Watts will continue to assist the organization. She has suggested a meeting of members of the community to provide input.
"I think we've got a full house today," Little said of that day's farmer's market. She said vendors were sharing tables. She plans to talk to Wadesboro Town Manager John Witherspoon to find more tables.
