Wiley Ernest Kelly, 80, of 647 Stanback Ferry Road, Lilesville, died Thursday, May 20, 2010 in his home.

Funeral services will be conducted at 4 p.m. on Monday, May 24, in Jesus First Free Will Baptist Church in Hamlet with Revs. Jerry Smith, Larry Talley, and Frank McQuage officiating. Interment with military honors will follow in Eastside Cemetery in Rockingham.

Ernest was born in Hickman County Tennessee on May 1, 1930 to the late Aaron and Mary Qualls Kelly. He served in the U.S. Army in the Korean War, and went on to retire from Alpha Plastics. He was a member and Deacon of Jesus First FWB Church, and in recent years attended Victory Baptist Church in Lilesville. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife of 50 years, Susan Elizabeth Kelly, a son, Joseph Dwayne Kelly, and two sisters, Ruth Kelly and Melba Ashworth.

He is survived by his wife, Myrtle Tyson Kelly of Lilesville; a son, Wiley E. Kelly Jr. of Hamlet; a daughter, Cheryl Kelly of Hamlet; two stepsons, Albert Tyson of Mocksville, Clarence Tyson of Wadesboro; a brother, David Kelly of Detroit, Mich.; three sisters, Carolyn Williams of Pleasantville, Tenn., Evelyn Brewer and Kathy Gill, both of Hohenwald, Tenn.; four grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society.

In addition to the home in Lilesville, the family will receive friends Sunday evening from 7-9 p.m. at Russell-Marks Funeral Home, and at other times at 585 Cheraw Road, Hamlet.
