LaBree teaches 10th grade biology and 11th grade physical science at Anson New Technology High School.
“Teachers have a special mission of helping mold and encourage our children to be what they can be, to dream big dreams and realize those dreams,” said Ken Huntley, Anson Bank & Trust’s board of directors’ chair, who recognized LaBree. “Steffany received a Bachelor of Science in Biology and a Bachelor of Science in Education with a Concentration in Biology from Western Carolina. Ms. Labree is also a Certified 21st Century Teacher with the New Tech Network. Ms. LaBree is in her third year of teaching in Anson County and enjoys reading, spending time with family, friends and her dog, Hank!”
Additionally, Papa Joe’s Pizzeria was recognized as Anson Bank and Trust’s 2010 Outstanding Business. A statement honoring the business read:
“Papa Joe’s Pizzeria opened its doors in February of 1989. The staff was hand picked with many of them having worked together before. With everyone knowing their duties up front, customers had great service and delicious meals when the doors first opened and for the past 21 years. Richard Melton, manager of Papa Joe’s Pizzeria, [said his] philosophy is to treat customers as he would want to be treated. Over the years many customers stopped by on their way home from the hospital, after giving birth to their babies, to satisfy their hunger. Today, those babies, now grown, stop by with their new families. It is our pleasure to recognize Papa Joe’s Pizzeria of Wadesboro as our 2010 Anson County Outstanding Business.”
LaBree was presented with a monetary donation and a desk clock frame from Anson Bank & Trust. The clock frame featured an original piece of art depicting her area of teaching. Melton received a grandfather wall clock in appreciation of his contribution to the local economy.
