On Monday, May 3, Anson County Schools (ACS) was recognized as a Headsprout Hero. Started in 2007, the Hero Award was designed to spotlight leaders in the field of education making ground-breaking advances in early learning and to show Headsprout's appreciation for their partnership. Headsprout Heroes show the tenacity, the passion and the innovation that are needed in today's educational leaders.

Dave Anderson, Headsprout president and CEO, commented, "Headsprout celebrates Superintendent Greg Firn, his fabulous leadership team and the teachers in the Anson County School District for their commitment to a high fidelity implementation of Headsprout Early Reading and Headsprout Reading Comprehension. In particular, we recognize the rural North Carolina district's commitment to ensuring that every child learns to read. All of us at Headsprout are proud of our multi-year partnership with the Anson County School District to achieve this goal."

"It is exciting for the Anson County School System to be recognized by Headsprout for our efforts in addressing the literacy issue in the county. The school system has worked closely with the Headsprout staff to support at all levels the fidelity of our implementation. The students are the winners for they are learning in an environment that they enjoy," enthused Frances Williamson, ACS deputy superintendent. "Another plus is that the Anson County Schools are being visited by other school systems in the state to share our implementation and successes."
