AHS golf team members finish year in second, fifth place

The Southern Carolina Conference Golf Tournament was held April 19 at Twin Valley Country Club, hosted by Anson High School.

Porter Ridge High School won the conference tournament, putting them in second place for the year behind Marvin Ridge High School.

Matt Yelverton of Weddington High School was medalist with an even par 72 and earned Player of the Year in the Southern Carolina Conference.

Lewis Adams of Anson shot 74 and finished the year in second place as an individual. Michael Ricketts, also of Anson, also shot 74 and earned fifth position as an individual in the conference.

Both players made All-Conference and both qualified for the regional tournament that will be held at Statesville Country Club May 3.

Other Anson scores include Nick Ingold with 92, KC Currie with 91, Cory Jordan with 97 and Brandon Lear with 99.
