On March 22, Anson County Sheriff’s Deputies arrested two individuals for a series of breaking and enterings. Deputies arrested Chad Butler, 27, of Peachland and charged him with two counts of breaking and entering and larceny. Butler was put in the Anson County Jail under a $10,000 bond. Anson County Sheriff Tommy Allen said that Butler was a suspect in other break-ins in both Anson and Chesterfield counties.
“We had excellent cooperation from some witnesses that gave us some good descriptions of a suspicious vehicle and suspect," Sheriff Allen said. "I deeply appreciate them being our eyes and ears in the community.”
Deputies also arrested a Marvin Andrew Rodgers, 39, with a last known address in Monroe, but formally of Wadesboro. Rodgers was charged with two counts of breaking and entering and five counts of larceny, as well as failure to report as a registered sex offender.
Rodgers is currently in the Union County Jail awaiting other charges in that county. Sheriff Allen said that a co-defendant, currently in prison on other charges, will also be charged.
Traffic stops lead to drug busts
A sheriff’s deputy and a Lilesvile police officer arrested a subject with a large quantity of marijuana following a traffic stop along U.S. 74 on March 25.
Officers found over 50 pounds of marijuana inside the vehicle.
Thaddeus D. Walker, 53, of Concord was arrested and charged with trafficking in marijuana. Bond was set for Walker at $250,000.
On March 25, sheriff's deputies stopped a vehicle while on routine patrol and found the driver to be in possession of both marijuana and Ecstasy. Officers charged Richard T. Cole, 38, of Hamlet with felony possession of Ecstasy and possession of marijuana.
Bond was set at $8,300 and a court date set for April 26th.
Suspect arrested on numerous charges
Also on March 25, deputies arrested in individual on numerous charges. Deputies arrested Dennis Ray Hyatt, 40, of Matthews.
Hyatt was charged with possession of a stolen vehicle and fictitious license; possession and possession to sell and deliver methamphetamine; possession of marijuana; possession of drug paraphernalia and other motor vehicle violations. Hyatt was placed in the Anson County Jail under a $250,000 bond with a court date for May 24.
