Three suspects have been arrested in connection with a March 24 robbery at Village Pawn & Gun in Wadesboro but two more are at large.

Cornelius Smith, 19, Patricia Felder, 30, and Kahalea Johnson, 22, all of Wadesboro, were arrested shortly after midnight March 30.

All three face charges of felony breaking and entering and felony larceny of a firearm. Felder also faces one conspiracy charge.

Smith is being held at the Anson County Jail on a $100,000 bond while the women are being held there on a $70,000 bond.

The Wadesboro Police are still seeking Antonio Adams, of E. School Street, and Dexter Lindsey. They have felony warrants for each man.

The thieves used a sledgehammer to tear a hole in the brick wall in the rear of the building, blasting through brick, mortar and sheet rock to gain entrance into a storage room of the shop.

An alarm system triggered as the pair of black male suspects entered the store, and in the next few seconds, they kicked out the glass of a display case, grabbed the guns inside, and ran back out the hole they'd made in the wall.

"They came in through the back at about midnight," said Dorothy Griffin, one of the owners of the store. "The police were here in about three to five minutes but they still took 11 guns. Luckily, they dropped a bunch of them."

In the end, the thieves took a total of 11 firearms.

Wadesboro Police Chief Janie Schutz gave credit to Detective Lewis McLendon for helping identify the suspects and bring them in.

Schutz said the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives was involved in the case due to the number of firearms stolen. She said it may become a federal case.

Anyone with information on Adams or Lindsey is asked to contact the Wadesboro Police Department immediately at 704-694-2167.
