The thieves used a sledgehammer to tear a hole in the brick wall in the rear of the building, blasting through brick, mortar and sheet rock to gain entrance into a storage room of the shop.
An alarm system triggered as the pair of black male suspects entered the store, and in the next few seconds, they kicked out the glass of a display case, grabbed the guns inside, and ran back out the hole they'd made in the wall.
"They came in through the back at about midnight," said Dorothy Griffin, one of the owners of the store. "The police were here in about three to five minutes but they still took 11 guns. Luckily, they dropped a bunch of them."
Detective Lewis McLendon with the Wadesboro Police Department said he felt confident the suspects would be caught by the end of the week, if not before. The surveillance video that is a part of the pawn shop's security system clearly shows the two individuals a they run into the store, break out the glass backing of the display case, grab the guns and run back out. "If we can get those suspects ID'ed," McLendon said, "we can catch them."
Anyone with information on the robbery is asked to contact the Wadesboro Police Department immediately at 704-694-2167.
