A Charlotte man was arrested Feb. 6 and charged with counterfeiting a trademark according to a press release from the Wadesboro Police Department.

James Dwight Williams was arrested after a traffic stop by Wadesboro Police Chief Janie Schutz. Williams had a revoked license and was wanted for a failure to appear in four other counties.

A search of the vehicle revealed $22,000 worth of counterfeit goods, including women's handbags and clothing. The North Carolina Secretary of State has since confirmed the infringement charge, a felony.

Chief Schutz said she considered seizing his vehicle but ultimately decided to turn it back over to him.

Williams was released last week from the Anson County Jail after posting bond.
