Funeral service was held Thursday, Jan. 7, at 2 p.m. at Mount Zion Baptist Church in Albemarle with Rev. Arnette Wall officiating.
Born June 19, 1939, in Anson County, he was the second child of the late Blake and Sarah Christian Barrett. He was preceded in death by two sons, Billy Parker and Steve Parker; granddaughter, Jacqueshia Little; grandson, Thomas Parker; and brother, William Barrett.
His formal education was received in the public schools of Stanly County. He was employed by the city of Albemarle at the age of 19, and worked there until he retired. He was a member of Mount Zion Baptist Church in Albemarle.
He was united in Holy Matrimony to the late Ethel Smith Barrett for 39 years. Albert will most be remembered for his sense of humor. He loved to play practical jokes, had a passion for riding on Saturday to yard sales, loved sports, especially baseball and football, and loved to watch old movies and westerns.
He leaves behind to cherish his memories, eight daughters, Bronell Parker, Lottie (Raymond) Parker, Irene (Donald) Clark, Brenda (Wayne) Townsend, Dorothy Barrett, Sarah Barrett, Judy Barrett and Susan Tillmon; three sons, Larry Parker, JImmy Parker and Patrick (Leslie) Barrett; four sisters, Christeen Barrett, Willie Bell (Charlie) Caple, Juanita Hillman and Evon Leach; two brothers, Emanuel Spratt and Walter (Benzula) Barrett; a special granddaughter, Shunna Harris; 29 grandchildren; 34 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; three sisters-in-law; one brother-in-law; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
