The Bearcats struggled early, trailing the Eagles by 10 points, 21-11, after the first quarter. Anson battled to narrow the lead in the second quarter and the score at the half was 34-31, Eagles.
The Bearcats opened up the game in the third quarter, forcing more turnovers and quickening the pace. The Bearcats managed to maintain a small lead going into the final quarter, 49-44.
The Eagles gave a final push, trading baskets and the lead halfway through the fourth quarter.
Anson's defense shut down East Montgomery the final two and a half minutes, holding the Eagles to a single basket. The Bearcats pounced on the opportunity and scored 13 points in the same period.
Anson also defeated East Montgomery a week earlier on Dec. 10, 71-69.
Friday night's game against North Mecklenburg was canceled due to weather.
