Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Dec. 3 at Mt. Zion United Methodist Church with the Rev. Earnest Reece Jr. officiating. Visitation was at 1:30 p.m. Interment followed the service at the church cemetery.
He was born May 8, 1934, to the late Eugene Marsh Sr. and Mary C. Marsh in Anson County. He confessed Christ at an early age and joined Mt. Zion United Methodist Church in Cheraw, S.C. He was a faithful member until he moved to Raleigh, but continued to contribute to church fundraisers.
He was preceded in death by Eugene Marsh Jr., Annie Sue Little, Mary J. Marsh and Haywood Marsh.
He is survived by two daughters, Florence E. Barrow and Vernita Gilchrist; one son, Reginald Gilchrist, special friend, Linda Gilchrist; three sisters, Clara (Archie) Pratt of Morven, Mary Alice Marsh of Cheraw, S.C. and Mary Louise (Marion) Simon of Chesterfield, S.C.; three brothers, Willie (Kathleen) J. Marsh of Chesterfield, S.C., Frank D. Marsh of Raleigh and Charles E. Marsh of Cheraw, S.C.; 12 grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
The services are in the care of Smith's Funeral Directors.
