Funeral services were held Oct. 12 at 1 p.m. with visitation at 12:30 p.m. at Smith's Memorial Chapel with the Rev. Bernice Bennett officiating and the Rev. Phillip Cason eulogizing. Interment followed the ceremony at Galilee A.M.E. Zion Church Cemetery.
She was born March 30, 1923, to the late Andrew Lester Cason and Coreaner Streater Cason. She attended school in Anson County and completed the 12th grade.
She attended Harris Chapel A.M.E. Zion Church, where she was an active member until she was incapacitated and moved to Asheboro. She lived there for several years before residing in Sunbridge Healthcare for seven years. Leak recently moved to Lillie Bennett Nursing Center closer to the family.
She was united in holy matrimony to Charles Harvey Leak of Morven, where they made their home. She was a housewife and worked with many community organizations and also in many capacities in the church.
She is survived by her sons, Andrew (Gladys "Dee") A. Cason, Gregory (Connie) C. Leak and Harvey L. Leak; sister, Emmie Cason Douglas of Greensboro; sister-in-law, Wilhelmenia Bryant Cason of Morven; seven grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces nephews, cousins and friends.
The services are in the care of Smith's Funeral Directors.
