After birthday cake and a one-mile walk around uptown, party-goers received a 4-H pedometer. Then, 100 green and white balloons emblazoned with the 4-H logo were released. Each of the balloons contained a card with North Carolina Cooperative Extension's phone number on it, so that 4-H agent Roshunda Blount can hopefully get calls from individuals who find the balloons.
"It'll be neat to see how far they went," Blount said.
Other events held during the week included 4-H Sundae, Wear Green Day and set-up at Anson High School.
4-H touches the lives of more than six and a half million young people in urban, suburban and rural communities. To learn more about 4-H and how to join or volunteer in the community, call 704-694-2915 or visit the local 4-H office, located at 501 McLaurin St., Wadesboro.
