On Oct. 6, Ansonville Elementary School (AES) held a very special event, “Night at the Local School: Invasion of the Readers.”
Well over 300 people attended, including parents, students, teachers and staff. The goal for the event was to get the community involved in children’s reading and literature. All grade levels, kindergarten through sixth, participated in this special night. Reader’s Theaters were presented, accompanied by props and costumes for each character’s part.
Third-graders performed “Where the Wild Things Are,” fourth-graders performed “The Little Old Lady Who Wasn’t Afraid of Anything,” fifth-graders performed “The Boy Who Wanted the Willies” and sixth-graders performed “Black Bart’s Gold.” Students in kindergarten, first and second grades sang songs to entertain the guests. The plays and songs were centered on a suspense-filled, fall theme. Delicious hot dogs, chips, cookies and drinks were served to those who attended. "It was a fantastic night of food and fun," said fourth grade teacher Tracy Preslar. "All AES students did a fantastic job and the family support was extraordinary. All involved are to be commended!"
