A Charlotte man was arrested Monday in connection with the April robbery of Jack's Convenience Store.
Quinton Jovon Winston, 20, has been charged with one felony count of robbery with a dangerous weapon. He is currently being held in the Richmond County Jail on other charges.
"He was in jail in Charlotte on an unrelated charge and Richmond County Sheriff's Office and Rockingham [Police Department] had warrants on him," said Sgt. Brandon Chewning of the Wadesboro Police Department.
On April 17, a man entered the store and grabbed an ice cream bar, which he placed on the counter at the register, Herbert Sturdivant, the clerk working at the time of the robbery, said in April.
After placing money on the counter to purchase the item, when Sturdivant opened the register to make change, the suspect pulled a black handgun from his pants, pointed it at the clerk, grabbed the $20 bills in the register and fled.
The suspect left on foot and possibly fled in a champagne-colored "smaller" sport utility vehicle that may have been parked behind the building with its lights off.
"It was less than a minute," Chewning said in April, in reference to the time it took to complete the robbery.
Winston's court date in Anson is set for Sept. 29.
