David Paul Gans, 41, died suddenly Sept. 1, 2009.

Funeral services will be held at 6 p.m. Sept. 4 at Leavitt Funeral Home with the Rev. Rocky Carpenter officiating. Interment will be in Strasburg, Ill. The family will greet friends the same day from 5-6 p.m. at the funeral home.

He was born in Benton Harbor, Mich. Aug. 1, 1968, to Raymond Gans and Suzann Boyer Gans McIntyre. He was a graduate of Richmond Senior High School and attended UNC-Charlotte. Gans was the owner and operator of Cape Fear Machine Services in Peachland.

He is survived by his wife, Gwen Haywood of the home; two stepchildren, Will and Ashley Haywood, also of the home; mother and stepfather, Suzann and Gene McIntyre of Wilmington; father, Raymond Gans of Shorewood, Ill.; brother, Mike (Lisa) Gans of Wilmington; a nephew; two stepsisters and a stepbrother, Shelly, Cheryl and Rob.
