A Wadesboro man has been charged with felony larceny, Wadesboro Police Chief Janie Schutz said.

Todd Pegram was arrested July 23 in connection with a reported theft of $20,000.

Meresa Phillips, his girlfriend with whom he also shares a residence, reported the theft July 6 to the Wadesboro Police Department.

She told authorities that she had noticed the money was missing July 2, left town for a few days and then made the report four days later.

After Pegram was arrested, he confessed the theft to authorities.

Schutz said that she was to meet with Phillips Tuesday and she thought the woman might ask for the charges to be dropped.

She said she did not plan to drop the charges but the district attorney may if Phillips is unwilling to testify.

please, let's own what we do - if you can't own it - then don't do it - hey it is as simple as that. Police chief you are doing great. Complainers and folks who are embarrassed about what you do - maybe that should be your clue - if you are ashamed of it - don't do it -

Once again the Police Chief has provided too much information to the press. At least this time she didn't provide a physical address for Ms. Phillips. But she did make known the fact that couple are living together without being married. Does the Chief have no respect for the privacy and feelings of the citizens she is sworn to protect. Much less the families involved. I think not.

I consider this strike 2 for the chief. Hopefully she will resign before strike 3 happens.
