In June, faculty from Anson County Early College attended the North Carolina New School's project 2009 Summer Institute in Raleigh.

Schools from across the state gathered to celebrate the success of the early college concept, to share innovative ideas in education and to create ways to sustain local early college funding.

Anson County Early College was featured as one of the state's most successful schools. Principal Deborah Davis was singled out as a leading North Carolina early college principal.

Ray King, a rising fifth-year student, was chosen from the students across the state to be featured as one particular success story for the concept.
