Thursday afternoon, July 2, the residents in Morven got to see first- hand the “New Gang in Town.”
This new gang already has many members who like to dress alike and who sometimes even talk in their own code. The new gang is truly a force to be reckoned with, because this gang is made up of the law enforcement officers and all their corresponding agencies located in Anson County.
Chief Alex Campbell of Morven Police Department, Chief Janie Schutz of Wadesboro Police Department, Chief Kevin Mullis of Lilesville Police Department, Anson County Sheriff Tommy Allen and the N.C. Highway Patrol all worked together to saturate to town limits of Morven on Thursday as a way of showing support for Chief Campbell and the job he does there.
“It’s policing at its best, when through various mutual aid agreements, we can go into each other’s jurisdictions and assist in any and all forms of law enforcement,” stated Chief Schutz.
"We want a safe community for all the residents in the county, and I appreciate the assistance all these agencies showed the citizens of Morven,” Chief Campbell said.
There were times that blue lights were seen in every possible direction. Numerous traffic citations were written by the officers, along with several criminal charges, mostly dealing with the possession of illegal drugs.
“We will continue to support each other 100 percent,” said Sheriff Tommy Allen.
“This is not a one-time deal. We will continue to use mutual aid agreements as a solid way to inundate any jurisdiction that makes the request,” Schutz said.
Approximately 15 officers participated in the action for several hours.
BOLO (Be on the Look Out) Anson County residents for this new gang and lend your support by following the traffic laws and by remembering to “Just Say No to Drugs.”
