A man suspected of doing three store robberies recently in Richmond and Anson counties has been videotaped, and his image is being used to seek his identification.
The incidents occurred in Wadesboro in April, in Rockingham in May and in Richmond County in June.
Anyone with information about his identity or whereabouts is asked to call Detective Jay Childers at the Richmond County Sheriff’s Office at 910-995-0924 or Richmond County Crime Stoppers at 910-997-5454.
The sheriff’s office said during the incidents, the suspect walks around a store and takes an item to the checkout counter.
He offers money to pay, and when the clerk opens the cash register, he grabs the money from within it and leaves the store.
In Wadesboro, he pointed a handgun at a clerk. In Rockingham, he pulled the handgun out of a pocket, but did not point it, and the clerk did not see it. In Richmond County, no gun was seen on videotape.
The suspect is a black man in his late teens or early 20s standing from 6 feet to 6 feet 3 inches tall and weighing from 180 to 200 pounds.
At the time of one robbery, he was wearing diamond stud earrings in both ears and black-rimmed glasses.
In the Wadesboro incident, a gold and silver sport utility vehicle was seen behind the store at the time it was being robbed.
