The Anson 8U Darlings won the District 4 Tournament held at Little Park June 18-23. Anson beat four other teams and clinched the championship by beating the Montgomery County Darlings, 17-15 on June 23.

Anson will now travel to Wilmington to represent District 4 in the N.C. State Dixie League Tournament on July 10-15. According to Wendell Small at Anson County Parks and Rec, this is the first Anson Dixie softball team to make it to the state playoffs.

If the girls win in Wilmington, they will go on to play in the Dixie World Series in Sumter, S.C.

"We are so proud of our players and coaches!" said a team spokesperson.
