Dark clouds and rain hung around most of the day until a few hours before the concert. Series organizer Carly Little said it was a sign that the show was meant to be a success.
“People deserved to have a good time and the rain took a break to let them,” she said.
Michelle Brock of Polkton brought her family to the free show.
“We had a great time,” Brock said. “Flatout Bluegrass sounded awesome and the atmosphere was very enjoyable. The crowd was relaxed and in the mood for fun.”
She said that her family would definitely go to more events like the uptown concerts sponsored by Doctors Dest and Casher of Wadesboro Family Dentistry.
The next concert should be the biggest in the short history of the series.
On July 3, three bands will perform at Ray Shelton Ball Field in Wadesboro for free to give folks a chance to celebrate July 4 early. Fireworks will follow the music.
Pop and Rock-n-Roll will be on display with Through Porchlight and Delta Progression playing. Bluegrass band Salem Bound will also take to the stage.
The event starts at 7 p.m. Visitors are asked to bring their own seating.
