Eva Grace Leak, 74, died May 14, 2009, at Britthaven Skilled Nursing and Rehab Facility in Hamlet.

Funeral services were held May 18 at 2 p.m. at Smith's Memorial Chapel in Smith's Funeral Directors. Interment followed the service at Westview Memorial Park. The family received friends at 1:30 p.m.

She was born Feb. 11, 1935, to the late Hattie Mae Gordion and Gaston Leak Jr. She attended the public schools in Polkton. After she graduated from high school she enlisted in the U.S. Army.

Once her tour of duty was finished, she worked and retired from the U.S. Post Office at Ansonia Station in New York, N.Y.

She was preceded in death by her eldest daughter, Janice Renee Simon; two son-in-laws, Charlie T. Simon and Frederick "Buck" Ingram, both of Wadesboro.

Leak is survived by two daughters, Sharon (Jerry) Patterson of Atlanta, Ga., and Michelle Ingram of Wadesboro; six grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; sister Eliza (Tommy) Coleman of Jamaica Queens, N.Y.; and a host of other relatives and friends.

The services are in the care of Smith's Funeral Directors.
