Anson High golf team finishes eighth

Anson High School's golf club competed in the Conference Tournament April 27 at Monroe Country Club.

Anson finished eighth in the Conference Tournament with an 18-hole team score of 356. Porter Ridge won the tournament with an 18-hole team score of 311.

Hickory Ridge won the regular season with a nine-hole team score average of 157.9.

Anson was led by Lewis Adams, who shot an 81. Lewis finished the season in sixth place as an individual. Other scores for Anson include: Michael Ricketts with 84, Cory Jordan with 92, Nick Ingold with 99, Drew Kendall with 117 and Brandon Lear with 121.

The team had a very competitive season thanks to lots of practice and hard work from the players. Lewis Adams qualified for the West Regional tournament held at Pine Island Country Club in Charlotte May 5 as an individual.

Lewis played a solid round and shot 77.
