Schutz began her law enforcement career in Wisconsin, before moving to North Carolina in 1994 and entering the Basic Law Enforcement Training (BLET) program at Western Piedmont Community College. Most recently, she worked with the N.C. Justice Academy and has spent much of career educating fellow law enforcement officers. She relocated to Wadesboro from Morganton in March, and said she hopes to become an integral part of the community.
The meet and greet on Sunday was a way for her to do just that.
Retired Superior Court Judge Fitzer Mills and his wife Penny were just a few of the town citizens that Schutz took the time to talk with and get to know. For both, it was their first time meeting the new chief.
"From what I hear, she's been doing a great job," Fitzer Mills said.
"Everything we've heard has been good," his wife added.
