Roland Leslie “Bud” Hutchinson Jr., 73, died April 2, 2009 at the Brian Center in Monroe.

Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. April 4 at First Baptist Church in Wadesboro with the Rev. Robert Hunter Jr. and the Rev. Delano Honeycutt officiating. Interment followed at Seago Cemetery.

The family greeted friends Friday from 6-8 p.m. at Leavitt Funeral Home.

He was born March 2, 1936 in Anson County to the late Roland Leslie and Bennie Lee Treadaway Hutchinson. He was preceded in death by an infant daughter and by his sister, Maryland Parker.

He was well-known for his career in law enforcement, having worked with the Wadesboro Police Department and retired as Chief Detective with the Anson County Sheriff’s Department. He also worked with the Wadesboro Fire Department.

He was an active member of First Baptist Church in Wadesboro where he served as a deacon, assistant custodian and a member of the Special Interest Sunday School class. He was also a member of the Gideons International, Anson Camp.

Surviving are his sons, Leslie Hutchinson III and wife, Lisa and Tim Hutchinson and wife, Sarah, both of Wadesboro, and Dennis Hutchinson of Charlotte; two grandchildren; his sisters and brother, Doris Kiker and husband, Graham of Greer, S.C., Nancy Carpenter of Charlotte, Barbara Kendall and husband, Alvin of Wadesboro, and Lindsay Hutchinson and wife, Mary Ella of Louisburg; and his nieces and nephews and their families.
