On March 1, two officers of the Wadesboro Police Department were promoted. Lieutenant Brandon Chewning was promoted to Captain, and Officer Ronnie Gainey was promoted to Sergeant.

Captain Brandon Chewning started his career with Wadesboro PD on Sept. 4, 1998. Sergeant Gainey started his career with Wadesboro on April 4, 2003. The two promotions will be an asset to Wadesboro Police Department and the community, Chief Thedis Spencer said.

Dinner was provided for these two officers by Chief Spencer and wife Stephana Spencer, Sgt. McCormick and wife Renee McCormick, Lieutenant Kelly and wife Norma Kelly, wife of Captain Chewning, Brandis Chewning, and Wadesboro Police Department investigators. Decorations were done by Renee McCormick and her mother Bunk Hill.

Honored guests present for the occasion included Mayor Bill Thacker and wife, members of the Town Council, and Town Manager Alex Sewell. Special guest speakers were Special Agent Shaun Keith of the SBI, and Lieutenant Steven Kelly of the Police Department. The families of Captain Chewning and Sergeant Gainey were also present for the promotion.
