On Feb. 23, Cub Scout Pack 525 put on and participated in the annual Rain Gutter Regatta. This where the Cub Scout and his parent take a block of wood and carve it into a sailboat, and then race them down a rain gutter track.

Cub Scouts is a parent-driven organization because Scouts range from first grade to fifth grade.

The Rain Gutter Regatta is double elimination race with trophies going to the first, second and third place finishers. Trophies are also awarded to the Cub Scouts with the most unique and most realistic boats.

First place was Trent Taylor, second place was Joesph Davis and third place went to Logan Goodwin. Most realistic winner was Braden Diehl, and most unusual went to Landon Howard.

Cub Master David Howard gave a very special thanks to Kenny Brower, Scout Master of Troop 170 in Wadesboro, “for being so dedicated to the scouts of Anson County; without him this race would not have went as successful as it did.” Howard also thanked First United Methodist Church of Wadesboro for sponsoring Pack 525 for many years, and to the firemen of Wadesboro for the use of their Training Center for the event.
