CHESTERFIELD, SC — William Carson Diggs Jr., 69, died Dec. 5, 2012. Graveside service was held Saturday at Hopewell Baptist Church Cemetery, Chesterfield, S.C., with military honors. Visitation was held prior to the service at the funeral home.
Diggs was born Oct. 28, 1943 in Wadesboro, a son of the late William Carson and Christine Ratliff Diggs. He was a graduate of Anson High School and was a retired conductor with CSX Railroad with 30 years of service. Carson was a U.S. Army Veteran, serving during the Vietnam War.
He is survived by his wife, Judy Sellers Diggs of the home; son, Scott (Theressa) Diggs of Mt. Croghan, S.C.; daughter, Teresa Diggs and Phil Bryant of Lugoff, S.C.; three grandchildren, Clifton (Crystal) Mangum, Cody Diggs and Haley Diggs; one great-grandson, Caston Mangum; brother, Ronald (Diane) Diggs of Lilesville; and two sisters, Linda (Billy) Lee of Lilesville and Karen Diggs of Charlotte.
