LILESVILLE — Allan Maynard Poplin, 91, died Nov. 26, 2012 at Carolinas Medical Center Union in Monroe.

Funeral services will be 3 p.m. Thursday at Lilesville Baptist Church with Rev. Teddy Lawson officiating. Interment will follow in Lilesville Cemetery.

The family will greet friends one hour prior to the service at the church.

Poplin was born Sept. 20, 1921 in Anson County, a son of the late James Thomas Poplin and the late Betty Elizabeth Liles Poplin. He was retired from Provident Mutual Life Insurance Company, a member of Lilesville Baptist Church and a veteran of the Untied States Navy, having served during World War II.

Surviving are his children, Allan (Monica) Poplin of Palmerton, Pa., Linda Lester of Mt. Pleasant, S.C., and Michael Poplin of Hamlet; his twin sister, Allie Mae McCormick of Peachland; six grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Willie Broome Poplin.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Lilesville Cemetery Fund, c/o Donna McAllister, P.O. Box 226, Lilesville, NC 28091.
