MORVEN — Dorothy McLendon Kelly, 91, died Nov. 11, 2012 at Lillie Bennett Nursing Center in Wadesboro.

Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Wednesday in the Chapel of Leavitt Funeral Home with Rev. Bill Whitlow officiating. Interment will follow in Morven Cemetery.

The family will greet friends one hour prior to the service on Wednesday at the funeral home.

Kelly was born Nov. 9, 1921 in Anson County, a daughter of the late Moran D. and Elsie Cox McLendon of Morven. She was a 1938 graduate of Morven High School and attended Women’s College in Greensboro.

A homemaker, she was a lifetime member of the Daughters of the American Revolution Craighead Wade Chapter, and served as voter registrar for Morven for many years. She was a member of Morven Baptist Church.

Surviving are her children, David (Cathy) Kelly Jr. of McFarlan and Rosemary (Danny) Rhodes of Seneca, S.C.; her grandchildren, Kelly (Matt) Cushman, Kevin Rhodes, Meagan Kelly and Zachary (Samantha) Kelly; and her great-grandchildren, Damien, Carson, Olivia, Cassidy and Bailee.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 53 years, David L. Kelly Sr., by her granddaughter, Jill Nicole Kelly and by her brother and sister, Moran D. “Mac” McLendon Jr. and Sara P. McLendon.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Morven Cemetery Fund, P.O. Box 166, Morven, NC 28119.
