WADESBORO — Julian Jesse Garris, 88, passed away on Nov. 5, 2012 at his home.

Funeral services were held Thursday at The Peachland Gospel Tabernacle with Pastors Donnie Morris and Lynn Garris officiating. Interment followed in Eastview Cemetery.

The family greeted friends Wednesday night at Leavitt Funeral Home and other times at the home of his daughter on Birchwood Drive.

Garris was born Nov. 18, 1923 in Anson County, a son of the late Jesse Eugene and Bessie Martin Garris. He worked for more than 30 years at Bowman Restaurant in Wadesboro and later retired from Cuddy Farms.

He was a member of The Peachland Gospel Tabernacle and a veteran of the United States Army having served during World War II.

Surviving are his children, Linda (Tommy) Martin and Kenny (Patricia) Garris, both of Wadesboro; his granddaughters, Lynn Pigge and Shelia (Jerry) Langley both of Wadesboro and Melissa (Benjy) Horne of Peachland; his great-grandchildren, Krista and Austin Langley and Ashton and Aiden Horne; and his brother and sister, Rev. Ranny Garris and Estelle Trull both of Peachland.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife, Daisy Garris.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to The Peachland Gospel Tabernacle, P.O. Box 107, Peachland, NC 28133.
