Mark Brody, the Republican Candidate for NC House District 55, and his wife, Lisa Marie Brody, have a judgment against them by BB&T, according to an abstract summary of the civil case at the Mecklenburg courts.
The money is broken down into a $53,646.80 money award, $10,904.28 in costs and fees, and $19,931.45 in interest, bringing the total balance to $84,482.53, according to the abstract.
The Brodys filed a counterclaim Nov. 1, 2010, saying that “Branch Bank and Trust (BB&T) was and should be held responsible for the collapse of the mortgage industry in the United States thus the collapse of housing prices causing the defaults and deficiencies regarding Loans 1 & 2,” and that BB&T “was and should be held responsible for the collapse of the construction industry in the US thus the collapse of new housing starts causing the equipment brought with Loan 46 to stand idle for lack of available work.”
The Brodys also asserted that BB&T violated a number of rules, regulations and laws, including failing to accurately assess their assets and cease lending if the actual value of their assets fell below that required per the federal and state regulations, among other violations, according to the counterclaim.
One citizen submitted a letter to the Record, saying that in Brody’s other papers he “has issued supporting his candidacy, he has espoused that he is a responsible citizen, who should be given the responsibility of running the state’s financial matters. We submit that he would do well to start at home.”
Brody’s campaign defended Brody, saying that the economy was to blame. They did not issue an official statement in time for print.

Why did Brody represent himself in the case? Seems irresponsible. I don't want a legislator that thinks he's a legal expert when he hasn't even gone to law school.
What next? Will he pretend to be an expert on transportation or education?
Why can't be just have honest politicians?
Five out of six corporations that Mark Brody owned were dissolved and had no employees nor hired any subcontractors. These businesses were created for future green construction. Due to economic conditions it was decided that it would not be conducive moving forward with these entities.
The three issues in question concerning sub-contractors have either been partially paid and settled or legally dismissed. One of the clients, Carolina Flooring, had given notice of voluntary dismissal with prejudice in this case. Documents were filed February 6, 2008, case closed. Mark Brody had the opportunity to file bankruptcy and has chosen to work through these issues and attempt to repay his debt.

Are you kidding me? What a joke.
Why can't the person seeking our vote for public office to speak for himself? Can we get Mark "Deadbeat" Brody's email address? Would "Deadbeat" Brody answer?
Why does "Deadbeat" Brody have to stonewall reporters and hide behind some "Campaign Manager?"
Is Ric Bannon going to answer "Deadbeat" Brody's constituent mail if the "Deadbeat" is actually elected?
Good grief. Can we get some personal accountability here? Can we even get an answer from the candidate? Or is the check in the mail?
And how can this clown preach personal responsibility when he's trying to slip out of his bank debt by blaming the BB&T for the Wall Street mess, soft housing market, and his own financial mess?

Brody's only defense is to stonewall and say nothing. Imagine the conduct if we send him to Raleigh. No way.
