PEACHLAND

Mary Hinson Vaughn Coley, 74, died March 3, 2009 at Lillie Bennett Nursing Center in Wadesboro.

Funeral services were held at 1 p.m. March 6 at Oakdale Baptist Church with the Rev. Larry Woodall, the Rev. Dennis Underwood and the Rev. Arnold Jackson officiating. Interment followed at Griffin Cemetery.

The family greeted friends Thursday from 6:30-8:30 p.m. at Leavitt Funeral Home in Wadesboro.

She was born Oct. 19, 1934 in Anson County to the late Fairley and Myrtle Thomas Hinson. She had worked with home health care and was a member of Oakdale Baptist Church.

She was preceded in death by her husbands, Darrell Vaughn and Howard Coley; by her infant daughter, Shelby Coley; and by her brother, Bryce Hinson.

Surviving are her children, Warren Vaughn Jr., Johnny Coley and Sharon (David) Underwood, all of Peachland, Charles (Teresa) Coley of Buford, S.C., and Shelia (Mark) Griggs of Kershaw, S.C.; 13 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; her brother and sister, James “J.B.” Hinson and Margie Pigg, both of Peachland; her sister-in-law, Annie Hinson of Peachland; and other relatives.

Memorials may be made to Lillie Bennett Nursing Center, 500 Morven Road, Wadesboro, NC 28170.
