Anson County is among over 3,070 governments nationwide, including over 385 other North Carolina governments, that have adopted GovDeals online auction solution to conduct online sales of surplus property and equipment.
Anson County began using GovDeals online auction website (www.govdeals.com) in 2007 as a trial and quickly determined the program was an effective way of monetizing surplus vehicles and equipment. Since then the county has sold $223,522.52 worth of surplus vehicles, generators and other equipment to buyers as far away as Florida, Iowa and California using this Internet auction service, said Bonnie Huntley, Clerk to the Board for Anson County.
“I believe the competitive Internet bidding process and national exposure gets us more for the surplus property than the traditional on site auctions,” Huntley said. “It’s easy and anyone with access to the Internet can bid on these items.”
