Four arrested on attempted murder charges

Three men were arrested Sept. 18 and charged with attempted first degree murder, according to a press release from the Wadesboro Police Department.

The incident occurred on Sept. 18 at 2 p.m. when officers were called to a residence on Threadgill Street regarding a robbery. When officers arrived on the scene, they found that John Edward Kirby had been robbed and assaulted with an unknown object.

Kirby, who lives at the Threadgill Street residence, suffered head injuries and was transported by helicopter to Carolinas Medical Center in Charlotte.

After an investigation, Wadesboro police arrested Devon Smith, 16, Shiheem Robinson, 17, Brandon Hough, 26, and Joseph Liles, 21, all of Wadesboro. They were all charged with attempted first degree murder, robbery with a dangerous weapon and conspiracy to commit robbery with a dangerous weapon.

All four individuals are in the Anson County Jail. Smith and Robinson are being held under a $400,000 bond, while Liles is under a $225,000 bond and Hough, $200,000 bond. The four have a scheduled court date of Oct. 9.
