WADESBORO — According to new data announced by Safe Kids Worldwide, 73 percent of car seats are not being used correctly; however, when used properly, child safety seats can reduce the risk of death by as much as 71 percent. In an effort to educate parents about the importance of car seat safety during Child Passenger Safety Week (Sept. 16-22), Safe Kids Anson and the Anson County Partnership for Children are holding several events to help raise awareness about the importance of child passenger and car safety.
Sept. 19 — Appointments are available for the Permanent Checking Station located at the Partnership Office at 117 S. Greene St., Wadesboro. Certified Child Passenger Safety Technicians will be onsite to assist with education and installation of car seats. Parents and caregivers should call the Partnership office at 704-694-4036 to make an appointment to have their car seat either installed and/or inspected by a certified CPS technician.
Sept. 20 — A Car Seat Check Event will be held in the parking lot of Kids Express, located at 1705 Morven Road in Wadesboro, from 2–5 p.m. Technicians will be onsite to assist with education and installation of car seats. Drop in times only, no appointments necessary.
Sept. 22 — Come by and visit the Child Passenger Safety Informational Booth at the Anson Ag Expo from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., at The Lockhart-Taylor Center in Wadesboro.
