Monroe — Arthur Helms, 78, passed away Aug. 24, 2012 at CMC Pineville. He was the son of the late Arthur and Bessie Howie Helms. He was preceded in death by his wife, JoAnne H. Helms. Arthur retired from the city of Monroe with over 30 years of service.

Graveside services were held Sunday at Lakeland Memorial Park with full Masonic Rites. The family greeted friends following the service.

He is survived by his brother, Cody A. Helms of Monroe; and his sister, Betty Smith of Gastonia. He is also survived by his niece, Annette Greene and three nephews: Danny Helms, David Fincher and Allison Helms.

The family has requested memorials be made to Mt. Carmel United Methodist Church Building Fund, 1714 Plyler Mill Road, Monroe, NC.
