The Board of Elections has moved the location for One-Stop Early Voting as well as extended the hours that voters may cast ballots.

On Aug. 7, the BOE voted unanimously to hold early voting at the Charles Riddle Center, 320 Camden Road in Wadesboro, instead of the County Government Center.

“This is the only early voting location for the entire county,” Interim BOE Director Steve Adams said. “There’s no other locations.”

The BOE considered moving Early Voting last year over concerns about the ease of access for the elderly or disabled and the difficulty of finding parking around the County Government Building as well as an increase in traffic in the area.

On Monday, Adams released a statement saying that the BOE had extended the hours citizens could early vote.

Early voting will be held from Oct. 18 through Nov. 3. On weekdays, voters may cast ballots from 8:30 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. On Oct. 27 and Nov. 3, both Saturdays, voters may cast a ballot between 8:30 a.m. and 1 p.m. This extended voting for 90 minutes on selected weekdays and three hours on Oct. 27.

“If early voting experiences a heavy turnout, even with the additional 25 hours of voting, the Board reserves the right to extend or add additional days and times as necessary,” Chairman James Paxton said in the statement.
